The Houston Rockets had Alperen Senggan to thank their strong season, and the Turkish star has only gotten better during his time at the Eurobasket.
The Houston Rockets have revealed that Alperencen Sengun will be their highlight for years to come. It’s still Senn’s team, despite the Rockets landing Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.
Several NBA stars recognize his talent, and Draymond Green calls the Senn Special a special after facing center in the NBA playoffs.
Sengun elicited many comparisons with Nikola Jokic. Because both stars have very similar playing styles and abilities to pass the ball.
The Turkish star earned All-Star honors last season, leading the Rockets to the second seed in the Western Conference. And considering what he did with Eurobasket this summer, he only gets better.
Prior to the NBA season, Alperensengun joined the Turkish national team and led them in the Eurobasket tournament.
Entering the tournament, Sengan impressed the people of Turkier with his performance in a warm-up game. However, there were still questions about how he would do it in the tournament.
The Turkish coach believes that if he continues to perform at the same level as he has in the tournament, Sengan can do as good as Jokic.
And, along with Turkiye, the young star was absolutely incredible. Sengun helped shut down Giannis Antetokounmpo, allowing Turkiye to beat Greece to reach the final of the tournament.
Just like Sengun did last season, he got even better with Eurobasket, averaging 20.8 points, 11.0 rebounds and 7.0 games of assists to produce solid counts.
Those numbers averaged far better than the Houston Rockets last season, 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
One of Sengun’s biggest skills is his distribution. He can really set up his teammates well, especially with passes from paint.
When Kevin Durant arrives, the Turkish Centre has a near perfect shooter game you can rely on to score from anywhere.
Sengun can also focus more on post-play with the outer Durant, causing havoc in the surroundings and midrange.
If the pairing clicks right away, the Houston Rockets will be extremely dangerous next season, competing with the best and best meetings in the Western Conference.
