One of the La Clippers will take a big turn this summer and his efforts will pay off a lot for the LA Clippers.
The LA Clippers find themselves in the midst of a desire controversy over Kawi Leonard, but it’s easy to forget how strong the roster that put together this offseason is.
Brooklopez’s signature was very necessary given the lack of depth in the central position. And Clippers Landing John Collins will deliver score first alongside Kawi Leonard.
To add to their guard depth, the Clippers signed Bradley Beal to be the next shooting guard and signed Chris Paul to get out of the bench.
But the new stars are not the only source of excitement. One of their longtime players has been in the best shape of his career over the summer.
Ivica Zubac spoke to reporters after the first preseason practice session for the LA Clippers. One reporter noticed that Zubac is more lean and in a much better shape.
When asked, Zubac explained that he lost nearly 10 pounds just to lose a bit of fat and stuff the muscle. He added that he feels more resourceful, but he can also show off his strength.
“I just wanted to get better. I’m not saying 10, maybe 8-9 pounds. I just wanted to lose fat and add muscle. It feels light, but at the same time it feels strong.
“I feel like I’m in a good place. I’ve had a little conditioning light for the past six weeks so I’m in pretty good condition.”
If Zubac packs more muscle while losing weight, he could use it for his benefit on the defense as a shot blocker and post player.
The Clippers have put together some very strong sides. In fact, the Clippers’ starting lineup for next season is the best in the Western Conference.
However, given that the Clippers are currently putting together what is the oldest roster in NBA history, there are concerns about their durability.
It’s not just the fact that they have some older players. But the history of injuries to these players, especially in the past few years, is that many questions have not been answered.
Hopefully, Ty Lue and the rest of the Clippers can get around these restrictions and put together a strong performance for next season.
