The Minnesota Timberwolves had another incredible run during the 2024-25 NBA season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves did their best for the NBA playoffs as they eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors in back-to-back rounds.
But once again, the Anthony Edwards-led team failed to cross the conference finals, the West’s final hurdle.
With the Timberwolves struggling with the WCF exit for the second year in a row, it will be interesting to see if the front office will make any major changes to the roster ahead of next season.
By sending the town of Karl Anthony to the New York Knicks last season, it’s clear that the Timberwolves will see the future where Edwards is the team’s cornerstone superstar.
At just 24 years old, Edwards has already surpassed Kevin Garnett’s postseason legacy as a T-wolf player. With that in mind, it is clear that the franchise wants to put together the current core as much as possible.
The key to making that a reality was to re-sign Julius Randle to a long-term deal. And the organization achieved that, especially during the offseason.
- Julius Randle (re-signed 3-year contract)
- Naz Reid (resigns 5-year contract)
- Joe Ingles (re-signed one-year contract)
Randle averaged 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game for the Timberwolves last season.
Reviving Nazreed was the top cherry blossom for the Timberwolves as the veteran center has consistently improved throughout their team careers.

The Timberwolves have found consistency in the postseason, but that also meant they were pushed into the second apron. Therefore, the team owed a massive luxury tax during the 2024-25 NBA season.
To avoid a similar fate during the 2025-26 NBA season, the Timberwolves parted ways with several players.
The most notable starting point is that of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, as the 27-year-old signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Hawks.
- Nickeil Alexander-Walker (left as a free agent)
- Josh Minott (remained as a free agent)
- Luca Garza (remained as a free agent)
Despite these exits, Timberwolves’ 2025-26 starting lineup looks solid as the franchise was able to maintain its starter this summer.
