After Tom Thibodeau was fired from his head coach position, the New York Knicks are still trying to find a suitable alternative.

One of my favorite names was Jason Kidd. It’s because he has not only history as a Knicks player, but also showed that the child has the ability to lead his team to an honorable stage like the NBA Finals.

Kidd is considered a coach who can treat some of the problems the Knicks had under Thibodeau. However, it’s not easy for the Knicks to hire Kid.

In addition to the fact that he is still on a contract with the Dallas Mavericks, NBA insider Howard Beck shows another reason.

The main problem is that Knicks and Mavericks don’t have a good relationship, especially after Jalen Brunson Free Agency Saga, who took him to New York.

“If you’re negotiating the release of Jason Kidd, the Knicks were rumbling for tampering, and the Mavericks weren’t too happy about Worldwide Wes, sitting in a playoff game with Rick Branson, Jalen Branson, Leon Rose and Julius Randle.”

Another reason Beck thinks it can make it difficult for him to land the Kids is because they don’t have the assets they give to Maverick in a “trade” situation.

The coach’s deal came when the Los Angeles Clippers sent a 2025 first-round pick to the Boston Celtics to the Doc Rivers.

“It wasn’t long ago that there was tension between these franchises. The Knicks traded most of Tresible’s first round picks for the net, and when they saw the coach last ‘traded’, it’s not technically a deal,” he added.

Beck also believes there is one scenario that allows the Mavericks to let Kid go to New York easily. General Manager Nico Harrison believes he can find another coach to lead the Mavericks to greatness.

“If Nico is confident enough to say, ‘I can trade Luka Donsic’ when no one else in the universe is thinking, maybe he just wants to let this team walk with his vision,” Beck explained.

The coaching situation remains complicated, with multiple factors affecting whether the Knicks are able to successfully pursue their favorite candidates.

If the Mavericks make the Knicks difficult, they may simply choose to see other locations with candidates who have more easily won.
