The Boston Celtics were not repeated as NBA champions as they were eliminated in the second round at the hands of the New York Knicks.
Many questions have been asked about the Boston Celtics after being eliminated from the 2025 NBA playoffs.
This could potentially divide the entire core except perhaps their cornerstone superstar Jason Tatum.
Speaking of trade rumours, the Celtics could potentially gain a lot of interest from the NBA teams Jalen Brown and Derrick White.
With that in mind, NBA insider Shams Charania actually confirmed that the team is “threw crazy offers” with the dynamic duo.
“I’m sure the team is throwing crazy offers to people like Jalen Brown and Derrick White,” Charania told Pat McAfee’s show.
Slow offers are one thing, but is the Celtics interested in breaking up with elite players?
“We need a rather insurmountable package to get those guys out of Boston,” Charania said.
Keeping in mind the recent Desmond Bane trade, a package that does not include surplus of draft assets along with quality players will not receive interest from the Celtics.
With Tatum expected to miss out on most of the season, the Celtics will rarely compete for the NBA championship next season.
On top of that, they have an incredibly expensive core, and things are expected to get worse for the team as the Celtics are expected to surpass their second apron in the 2025-26 season.
With Celtics on sale, it’s very likely that new ownership doesn’t want to pay that much on your current core in your salary.
In that case, it could potentially allow the Celtics to trade Jrue Holiday, not just brown and white. Finally, if the brown, white, and holiday trio are gone, it makes little sense to keep Christapping’s Porzingis on the roster.
So fans shouldn’t be surprised if the Celtics decided to build a new core around him in the summer of 2026 and build a new core around him.
