The New York Knicks are looking to compete for the NBA championship next season, and one of their most important stars will step up in a big way.
The New York Knicks are pushing to compete for an even more offensive NBA championship than what they made last season.
The Knicks swung for the fence in their final offseason in the trade between Mikal Bridge and Carl Antony Towns, but this offseason was totally different.
The Knicks, along with players such as Guerschon Yabusele, Jordan Clarkson and Malcolm Brogdon, were focused on creating smart, depth-centric signatures.
In fact, their biggest money spending move was to re-sign Mikal Bridge for $150 million. This outrageous amount is trying to motivate the bridge to play the best basketball of his career.
Before joining the New York Knicks, Mikal Bridges was surprised as the Brooklyn Nets’ first choice.
In his final season on the net, the Bridges averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists, but the net failed to reach the playoffs.
After Bridges joined the Knicks, he had to share the ball, so his numbers obviously fell, but not to what I imagined.
Last season, the Bridges averaged 17.6 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds, but all were the third option for Jaren Branson and the Carl Antony Towns.
Now that he has signed a massive deal with the Knicks, Bridge is looking to take his numbers and help them deliver them at an even higher level.
Under Tom Thibodeau, Mikal Bridges numbers were strong, but something is missing from his performance.
In particular, the bridge struggled with consistency. In fact, Bridge and Thibodeau were not looking at the eyes of the latter’s tenure as head coaches.
Now, with Mike Brown at the helm, Bridges can start a fresh start and gain the trust and respect of his head coach.
And that’s a big boost for the Knicks as they aim to break out of the Eastern Conference and compete for the NBA championship.
