The New York Knicks have just added another scorer behind Jalen Brunson, and they believe Patrick Beverley can take over the game.
The New York Knicks seem to finally put things together. Yesterday, the Knicks confirmed Mike Brown as head coach.
This decision seemed to be in the work for a while, as the Knicks had said they would soon hire a coach to free agents.
Speaking of free agents, the Knicks don’t have many signatures. The Knicks’ first signature was Gershon Yabsel, who thrived with the Philadelphia 76ers last season.
But a more noteworthy signature was the signature of the former sixth man in Jordan Clarkson of the Year. And if Patrick Beverly is believed, this is one of the most underrated signatures of the season.
On the podcast, Patrick Beverly spoke about the biggest moves ever made by NBA free agency. He praised the New York Knicks for signing Jordan Clarkson.
He pointed out how Clarkson’s “factors of it” as a scorer could help, as the lack of scores outside Branson plagued them in the playoffs. Clarkson’s defense isn’t the best, but he brings a great element to the Knicks they need.
“Very good move. He brings toughness, he brings the ‘factor of it’, you on the court, you know something is going to happen.
“I’m not saying he’s the best defender, what he can do offensively means he can get the ball quickly.
“He was busy in Utah. Now he’s in New York. He’s trying to control the entire second unit. Mostly that’s what the Knicks lack.
“He can get straight away from 12 to 15 points… move the crowd. I like Jordan Clarkson for the Knicks.”
The Knicks are in a strong position right now. But on the roster they have, they still need to add one or two more pieces to compete for the championship.
The Knicks’ Start 5 is the best in the NBA, but their roster isn’t as deep as other candidates like the OKC Thunder and the Denver Nuggets.
Of course, the Knicks are a second-polon team and cannot do many deals or signs without any punishment, so you need to be careful.
Does Leon Rose seem to move one of the Knicks’ core players, like Mitchell Robinson and Josh Hart? It may be worth considering making the Knicks accessible to the widespread Eastern Conference.
