The New York Knicks coaching search saw Mika Nori and put another twist on the franchise.
Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Mika Nori has appeared as a new candidate for the vacant New York Knicks job.
Nori is set for a post interview, and the New York Knicks are working to find an alternative to Tom Thibodeau.
Thibodeau was fired despite leading the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals, and the team’s front office wants a new approach.
Micah Nori is a wildcard option to add to the mix and offers support for three NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.
Micah Nori worked as an assistant for the Denver Nuggets between 2015 and 2018. He joined the team a year after Nikola Jokic was drafted in 2014.
Djokic spent the 2014-15 season in Serbia and was considered a project when he was drafted on the 41st pick.
This meant he finally arrived in Denver at the same time, and he helped him adjust to American basketball.
Speaking to Hoopshype two years ago, Jokic explained that Nori was the coach who ran the drills in the Summer League.
He added: “He really believed in me from day one.”
Speaking about their connection, Nori explained how Jokic’s curious nature helped them bond with love for the game.
He told Yahoo:
“But he’s very clever, very, very funny, we have the same sense of humor – very ironic – and he also self-deprecates himself, not afraid to laugh at himself.
“And the other thing was that he was just asking a very good basketball question. I was probably learning from him like I did from me.”
If the New York Knicks really want Mika Nori’s inner truck, all they need to do is talk to the town of Karl Anthony.
The town worked for Nori for several seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, before the center was traded to the Knicks last October.
Nori faced Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins for the vacant Knicks position, becoming the third contender for the interview. But he may not be the last one.
