Perth Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capitals (DC), has requested the Indian Premier League and BCCI to move upcoming matches against the Mumbai Indians (MI) to another venue. Jindal raised concerns that weather conditions could disrupt important equipment due to yellow alerts issued in the city.
The IPL 2025 clash between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on Wednesday, May 21st.
In particular, it is an important match for both teams to reach the IPL 2025 playoffs. If Mumbai wins, they will qualify for the playoffs. If the Axar Patel-led team wins, neither team will qualify immediately.

The game between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals is washed away – Parth Jindal
In an email accessed by ESPNcricinfo, Parth Jindal noted that the IPL moved the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) match from Bengaluru to Lucknow due to similar weather issues.
Jindal urged the league to maintain consistency and fairness by shifting the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals matches. He said heavy rain is expected in Mumbai and the match will need to be moved to another venue to protect the interests of the tournament.
“The predictions in Mumbai are due to heavy rain and there is a strong possibility that the game will be washed away,” Jindal wrote.
“Just as the game between RCB vs SRH moved out of Bengaluru for consistency, it is my request that tomorrow’s game also move elsewhere for the benefit of the league.
India’s weather sector issues yellow warning for Mumbai
India’s Weather Service issued a yellow warning to Mumbai on Tuesday, warning of heavy rain over the next four days. The Delhi Capitals’ request for Perth Jindal came shortly after the IPL moved the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunriser Hyderabad match from Bengaluru to Lucknow due to weather concerns.
Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore also expressed disappointment with IPL’s new rain rules. Mysore said if this rule had been in place when the IPL resumed on May 17, KKR’s match against the RCB could have saved KKR’s playoff hopes.
If the Mi vs DC match is abandoned, then the playoff scenario
If the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) is abandoned due to rain, both teams will share points. MI moves to 15 points and DC to 14 points.
DC can still qualify by defeating the Punjab Kings in the final match. However, for DC to reach the playoffs, Mumbai will have to lose to the Punjab Kings (PBK) in their final match.
Even if the Mi vs DC game is washed, Mumbai has two ways to qualify. The final match victory over the Punjab Kings secures a playoff spot regardless of other outcomes, earning 17 points. If Mumbai loses to the Punjab king, then if Delhi loses to the Punjab king, they can still qualify.
