Los Angeles right-handed pitcher Tony Gonzolin is set to make his first start in his rehabilitation assignments Thursday night. And perhaps more importantly, Gonsorin boasts a new look when he takes the mound for the comet in Oklahoma City.
More news: Dave Roberts of the ‘ victory: “Every night we’re invincible.”
Known for his love for cats and sweet rock, Gonsorin subtly showed fans a new haircut on Ring Night last week. It was something that could have been easily missed, but Gonsorin no longer had his signature hairstyle.
Instead, the right-hander had the hot topic cut. Another member of the pitching staff was responsible for the new look, Anthony Vanda.
While Banda may be one of the brightest stars in the bullpen, he appears to be a part-time barber.
“It’s like my ASMR,” Banda told Sonja Chen of MLB.com. “That’s why I fell in love with cutting my hair. The same reason people fall in love with paintings, knitting, etc.”
Banda has a barbershop setup in his house and has cut his son’s hair. However, as rescuers don’t take outside customers, Gonzolin’s haircut was an unexpected opportunity for some team bonds.
Gonsorin was one of three starting pitchers competing for the final spot in the rotation, but a back injury left the right-handed sidelined for the start of the season.
Perhaps Gonsorin’s haircut shows that he is ready for the next chapter of his career (of course, Banda’s tribute).
