Chelsea’s attack on midfielder Joao Felix dropped a major hint that he is keen to seal his move to former club Benfica this summer.
Catch off side Recently, I reported that Felix had made progress in a meeting with Benfica about his signature this summer, but now Portugal International has confirmed his interest.
Felix had two spells at Chelsea, but neither was particularly impressive, lending it to AC Milan for the second half of last season at the age of 25.
Now it’s likely that Chelsea will try to offload Felix, and the player himself told Koreoio da Manha that Benfica was probably his first choice.
Joao Felix Fuel talks about the possibility that Benfica will return this summer
When asked whether the second spell at Benfica would appeal to him, Felix said:
It remains to be seen whether the deal can be hit, but this certainly looks like something to watch, and it could be the best option for the Blues’ misfit.
Felix looked truly strange in his youth at Benfica, but since then his career has not progressed as expected.
It’s hard to know for sure if he can revive his career now, but Felix is probably good to go back to where he began to see if he’s regained confidence and looks a bit happy on the pitch.
A lot of exits at Chelsea this summer?
Felix probably isn’t the only one off-roaded by Chelsea this summer.
The West London giant has already made many new signatures, bringing in Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap.
That certainly means that by shifting some of the current players, they need to make more space with their team.
One of the other main names to watch looks like Noni Maduke, along with athletic reports that Arsenal is pursuing Chelsea and the British winger.
The Telegraph also reports on the potential for Chelsea sales, among those who are likely to see Armando Bruha, Axel Disassi and Ben Chilwell become available.
