Last season was such a disappointment for Man City, so there’s a real desire to compete in all aspects from 2025-26. But so far, the current campaign hasn’t been that good, with one win and two losses in three Premier League matches.
Pep Guardiola faced a lot of scrutiny last season due to his poor performance on his part. That could be true again in 2025-26, especially considering the money spent during the summer, if their struggle continues.
Man City bosses are hoping for a Premier League title this season
According to a football insider, Mick Brown has revealed that Man City boss could consider dismissing Pep Guardiola if another trophyless season occurs in Etihad.
“Man City asks questions. He clearly gets a lot of credit at City’s banks with everything he accomplished there. He’s barely out of control, but with the money he spent on overhauling this massive team, he needs to get results.
“Man City lost many senior players in the Transfer Window. They don’t have the stable base of players they’ve always had: Kyle Walker, Adason, Manuel Akanji, Kevin de Bruin, Ilkai Gandogan and Jack Grail.
“It’s very easy to start a season no matter who you are. Before you know it, you lost three or four games, not where you were expecting. I don’t think there’s any pressure on Guardiola, but he needs a better season than last year.
Guardiola has promised Man City will return this season, but already they are six points behind Premier League leader Liverpool.
