The Moto2 rider market is reportedly rising behind the scenes.
Alonso Lopez has agreed to switch teams in the championship, with only official announcements missing.
According to SkyItalia, Lopez leaves a speed-up race to take part in the Moto2 outfit of Grecini Racing.
This means replacing Boscoscro for Karex in 2026.
Lopez is moving to Gresini in hopes of moving forward with the cause of the MotoGP promotion, the report said.
Moto2 rider market competition involving Diogo Moreira
However, there was a race for his signature.
The Itala team, which could potentially lose Diogo Moreira to MotoGP in 2026, was interested in Lopez.
However, Gresini reportedly revealed to Lopez that he was their No. 1 priority, and they persuaded him to complete the swift negotiations.
Italtrans will have to look elsewhere for his replacement if he loses the coveted Moreira to MotoGP next year.
Lopez finishes the speed-up race with “Serenity”, Sky Italia Report. He has claimed 17 podiums and three race wins in his four years at Moto2.
The Spanish rider is currently ranked 14th in the Moto2 rankings.
Joining Gresini allows him to dream and create a natural pathway to the best class.
