Shubman Gill hits 2nd tons in the Edgbaston test
Gill had a very poor record in overseas Test matches before he was appointed captain of the Indian team, and questions were raised about his appointment.
However, Captaincy was very suitable for Gill, and since taking over leadership he has completely changed himself as a batter.
In his debut inning as a skipper at Leeds Headingley, he denounced a great century and achieved his performance to the next level in his second Test match.
Gill saw incredible controls during the Edgbaston test and made life hell for an English bowler. He hit a great 269 with 387 balls running 269 with four and three six of 30 to help India register a huge score.
Gill was doubled for the second youngest Indian captain, breaking Virat Kohli’s record for the highest score by the Indian Test Captain.
Shubman Gill follows Doubletons with 100 consecutive times in the Edgbaston test
Gill wasn’t satisfied with his doubleton in the first innings, continuing an astonishing century with two innings of 129 balls.
With the same Test match in two and a century, Shubman Gill became the second Indian batter after Sunil Gabaskar, who achieved this feat.
He is also the second batter to achieve feats at the World Test Championships, following Marnus Labuschangne. Overall, Gill was the third batter in cricket history, winning 250 in the same Test after Graham Gooch and Kumar Sangakhala.
Speaking about Sky Sports Cricket after Gill reached the triple-digit mark in two innings, Nasser Hussain said.
“Find the gap and take the single. 100 in the first test, double, and 100 in the second.
