The Golden State Warriors may have added Pascalciacam to the ranks, but chose to keep the two players who left anyway.
Pascal Siakam continues to playoff runs across generations this year. Despite winning the NBA Championship and earning All-Star honors with the Toronto Raptors, Siakam was not considered a star-level player.
But this year, along with the Indiana Pacers, Siakam is reminding fans that he’s not a flash to Pan. Many believe he is the Pacers’ best player during this run.
In Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Siakam put Pacer on his back and brought him a great victory to expand the series into seven games.
This was his mission from the beginning of the season. In fact, Obi Toppin revealed that Siakam had invited the Pacers player to his house for last year’s meeting to set the tone for the year.
If things were different, Siakam might have done the same thing with the Golden State Warriors. However, the Warriors communicated the opportunity for several different reasons.
They were considering making some changes to the roster as the Golden State Warriors were aiming to compete for a playoff spot last season.
NBA insider Mark J. Spears proposed the Warriors in January 2024, which could potentially trade Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul for Pascal Siakam.
“I like the potential Pascal Siakam trade. The Warriors definitely need a second scorer. He could be that. He had a great season.
“But to do that, it will hit you. You will probably have to trade cumingas to do that. Wiggins, I was told by GM that you can package him and cumingas together, but now Wiggins doesn’t have much value.
“We can package Kuminga and CP to make that happen. But the Warriors need to desperately make a deal.
The Siakam fire had more smoke than merely proposed trade. Even NBA insider Chris Haynes said the warrior was a candidate to land Pascal Siakam.
“The Golden State Warriors… what’s going on there? There’s confusion over there. It’s not just Draymond Green, Jonathan Kminga and Moses Moody.
“Now, the Warriors are trying to figure out what to do with Moses Moody… Everything is not going well in the Bay Area right now, so we’ve been told that Pascal Siakam could be on the radar of the Golden State Warriors.”
However, the deal did not come to fruition in the end. The Warriors reportedly didn’t want to trade Kuminga at all. Instead, they were stuck on trade deadlines, but the Indiana Pacers made a move to land him.
Instead, they kept holding Chris Paul and Jonathan Cuminga before abandoning Paul at the end of the season. Despite having him this year, Cuminga plans to leave the Warriors this offseason.
One concern with the warriors would have been long-term commitment to Siakam as they would demand a lot of money.
However, given the success of the playoffs, Siakam would argue that the money is worth it, as he led the Pacers since trade.
