Arsenal reportedly could be given some sort of “green light” about the potential movement of Newcastle United left wing Anthony Gordon, following the magpie bid for Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga.
This is not the first time I have seen a story about Arsenal’s interest in signing Gordon, who had been shining during St. James Park.
England International finished with 10 goals and six assists in all club and country competitions last season. Catch off side Arsenal and other interests have been previously informed.
Similarly, outlets like INEWS have appointed Arsenal and Chelsea as Gordon suitors, but Football.London’s latest report seems a bit unimportant.
Is Arsenal really given a green light to sign Anthony Gordon?
The report from football focuses on Newcastle’s bid for Anthony Elanga, which speculates that if Swedish International were to participate, Gordon’s future will be questioned.
Of course, that’s possible, but it seems a bit of a leaps and bounds for a variety of reasons, especially as Athletics report that Newcastle’s bid for Elanga was rejected by the Forest and now they’re on the move for someone else.
But even if Elanga or another similar winger were involved, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Gordon would leave, and that doesn’t mean that Arsenal would make him the best target.
Can Gordon do his job for Arsenal?
That said, Gordon is an incredible talent and he fits the bill for what Mikel Arteta needs with his team this summer. This is a new addition to provide upgrades to inconsistent performers like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Torosador.
The 24-year-old looks like he can make an impact at Emirates Stadium, and Charles Watts previously told us he would welcome the signature even if he saw it little.

“He’s an interesting player. The guy I have to admit was having his game in Heights that I didn’t expect him to reach when he first moved to Newcastle.
“I was one of those people who questioned the price Newcastle paid to sign Gordon from Everton, and now it’s hard to question.
“If Newcastle wasn’t eligible for the Champions League, he could have been a possibility. But they secured a top-5 finish, so the prospect of Gordon or their star player looks very slim now.”
