Edman was rolling up a base when it looked like he was reorganizing the same ankles that needed an IL stint in May.
The have Max Muncie, Kike Hernandez and Heisen Kim, who are currently on the injured list, but it remains unclear whether Edman will join them. Manager Dave Roberts will provide you with the latest updates on post-match utility men.
Edman was 2-2 on the plate before making his early exit. This season, the 30-year-old hit .226 with 12 home runs, hitting 44 runs, and has an OPS of .675.
Both Edman and Heisen Kim had been injured, but the ultimately decided to put the rookie in the IL.
Roberts spoke about his decision to keep Edman in the lineup due to an ongoing ankle issue last month.
“That’s the blurry line,” Roberts said in July. “Players clearly feel that they’re not hurt, that’s where they can play and post. That’s great. But are you still hurting the team and hurting yourself, that’s the organization, the training staff, we have to make that decision.”
