What forced BCCI to create an IPL 2025 revision schedule?
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be suspended for a week on May 9th, and the official announcement stated that the Indian Cricket Committee (BCCI) will soon release details of the new venue and new dates.
This happened the day after the 58th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 between the Punjab Kings (PBK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was cancelled on Thursday, May 8 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala after just 10.1 overs.
The match was cancelled as Pakistan launched a coronavirus attack on several Indian cities, including Patankot, just 90 km from Dharamsala Stadium. A blackout was enacted in the city, and players were evacuated from the stadium, just like the crowd.
Tensions across the border between India and Pakistan, especially after Pakistani terrorists attacked tourists in Pahargam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 innocent people and launched Operation Sindoah to take the lives lost by destroying nine terrorist camps lost in Kashmir, where India resided in Pakistan and Pakistan.
Will overseas players return to IPL 2025?
With the revised schedule for IPL 2025 released, the current biggest concern is about the return of overseas players who have already left India.
After the suspension was announced, most foreign players decided to return to their home countries, but some decided to extend their stay in India.
Star players on Australian national cricket teams like Mitchell Stark and Josh Hazlewood are reportedly not coming back to India’s Premier League 2025. Because other Australian cricketers offered to protect if Cricket Australia chooses not to go to India, and other Aussie cricketers also offered to protect them.
In particular, BCCI is powerless in this situation as it cannot take any action on players skipping IPL 2025 in this situation.
