Cy Young’s three-time winner is the 20th member of the exclusive club, a feat only achieved by the other three southpaws. Only two members of the 3,000 strikeout clubs do it on one team, and Kershaw is the third in MLB history.
On Wednesday, Kershaw has the opportunity to achieve a feat against the Chicago White Sox. The trio’s punch-outs in front of Stadium’s home cloud made Kershaw the 20th pitcher in MLB history, scoring 3,000 strikeouts.
For rookie reliever Jack Dreyer, the Car Show’s illustrious career in Los Angeles inspired him as a left-handed person.
“I respected him as a left-handed pitcher for the rest of my life,” he said Bill Plunkett, an Orange County register. “Back to the camera roll, there was a picture of us lined up in 2016 when I was in high school, and he was in the big leagues. … (I made it) is one of the free apps where you can make collages.
“At that point, he had already spent 10 years in the ‘show’ and he’s still pitching. But now we are pretty cool teammates. ”
Dreyer became a trusted member of the Bullpen, earning a 3.24 ERA in 41 strikeouts for 41 innings of work in his first season with the team.
The legacy of Kershaw is certainly the motivation for young pitchers like Dreyer to pursue greatness and strive for excellence on the hills.
