Vescia was expected to be activated ahead of Monday’s match, but has officially returned to the second game of the series. The left-hander has made 59 appearances in LA this season, earning a 2.75 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 52.1 innings.
As for Casparius, the right-hander is the ‘ savior this season and has worked in almost every scenario. He was a starter or opener, a middle relief bar and a highly leveraged relief bar. Over 46 appearances, he has won a 4.64 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 77.2 innings.
Vescia was on the list of injured in late August. Luckily, it was a minor injury and Bessia has returned with plenty of time to back up for the postseason.
Vesia has been one of the ‘ most reliable bailers since 2021, enjoying his career years last season, earning a 1.76 ERA in 67 appearances. He will soon return to high leveraged innings with a team looking for answers in the bullpen.
Why was Ben Casparius chosen?
After pitching just 8.1 frames last year, Casparius may have been sent to get a break as he pitches a career-highest career in the MLB innings this season. It is still possible that he could return to the major league roster before the season ends, and he was able to consider postseason photos very well.
But for now, he will continue to get healthier as October approaches, and get a short rest.
