Luka Doncic is preparing for the upcoming Eurobasket tournament for the Slovenian national team.
The Slovenian press welcomed Luka Donsic’s return to the basketball court in the 8th of August, during a friendly defeat to Germany.
Doncic played his first game since the NBA playoffs, played Slovenia’s first game since the Dallas Mavericks’ deal with the Lakers, earning 19 points the easiest on the court.
He rested in a second friendly friendly rep with Slovenia’s Germany on August 10th, with the coaching staff focusing on the Eurobasket tournament starting at the end of this month.
This international meetup provided the first chance to meet him for the first time since a deal that has rocked the NBA by many of Luka Doncic’s international teammates.
Veteran teammate Clemen Prairick told National Outlet Sports Kurve that he saw a difference in Don Sic since he was traded with the La Lakers.
Prepelic believes Doncic’s leadership skills have grown and notes how he has noticed how he speaks up.
He states: “With his constant availability and commitment, Luka has an ideal attitude towards the national team, he is open and positive. He knows how to cheer for young people.
“And he’s changed a bit. He talks a lot more than he has in the past, which is probably related to the challenge awaiting him with the LA Lakers, where he’s become the first face of the franchise and the true leader.
“I can’t imagine his basketball IQ. Whatever he says, he says with sincerity, passionateness and hopes that his teammates will get better for it.”
Prepelic believes that the intense demands of LA compared to Dallas have led to the development of Donsic’s approach.
He states: “You can see an overview of what his employer probably needs. He’s big. Of course, his voice is the most important. That’s good for all of us.”
Luka Donsic has taken the offseason into the best form of his career, and his transformation has been praised by the legendary Magic Johnson of La Lakers.
Donsic admits that he cannot escape critics, but in Slovenia he is always highly regarded for his presence.
Preplic adds: “I played many masters of the basketball game in my career, but Luka…Luka is Luka.
“You’ve probably never met a basketball player who makes his teammates very easy, and I hope that young people will perceive him like this.”
