This is the first time in his illustrious franchise’s postseason history that the starter has hit at least nine batters in four consecutive playoff games.
The pitching is really impressive. In today’s era, the emphasis is on pure speed and spin speed. While past generations of pitchers have been location-dependent, a significant portion of their current arms rely more on pitching past batters.
The combine high octane speeds with game plans that pitch into all quadrants. Yamamoto, Snell and Otani were stunning at making batters unbalanced with their off-speed pitch assortment.
Snell’s ChangeUp has been a devastating weapon so far throughout the start of two postseasons. Otani’s curveball in Game 1 of the NLDS was praised by former Vol player Sandy Kowfax saw the pitch on Prime. Yamamoto’s every pitch, especially his feel to the splitter, is elite.
Assuming Yamamoto can maintain his pace on Wednesday night in Game 3, this pitching staff will continue to outperform and outperform historic results.
