The Los Angeles traded the St. Louis Cardinals for right-handed Ryan Roots in exchange for cash. The route was appointed by the Cardinals this week.

In 2024, the right-hander began his season with Triple A Memphis. He produced 1.72 ERAs with 18 strikeouts and 13 appearances in four saves.
Loutos played in three major league appearances for the Cardinals last season. The right-hander pitched over 2.1 innings did not allow two hits and runs on an ERA of 0.00. The 26-year-old made his major league debut in St. Louis last June.
In Triple A this season, the Roots scored a 3.38 ERA with six strikeouts in eight innings. After his first rocky appearance in 2025, the right-hander pitched seven scoreless innings.
Loutos signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent following the 2021 draft.
The ‘ bullpen leads the league in the innings, and it seems the latest additions should provide much needed reinforcements.
