The Los Angeles reportedly traded with the Kansas City Royals a few weeks ago.
As reported by Baseball Alba on Instagram and later reported by Baseball America, the acquired right-handed pitcher Shawndrick O’Doover from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for cash considerations.
Oduber was born in Aruba’s De Bruynewijk and signed with the Royals in 2022 as a minor league free agent.
Oduber has not played on rookie ball at the professional level, but is only 20 years old.
In 2023, Oduber was a full-time starter, putting in 11 starts and 2-0 with an ERA 3.06. He made 45 strikeouts in just eight walks in the pitched 32.1 innings.
In 2024, Oduber was moved to Reliever. He struggled with 14 appearances, earning a 5.18 ERA with 21 strikeouts and 11 walks in 11 innings.
The obviously saw something in Odouber that they wanted to develop. Right-handed pitchers are listed at 6 feet 0 and 170 pounds.
It will take years before Oduber could potentially make his name at the minor league upper level. But for now, the will work with the younger pitcher and turn him into the player he hopes he can do.
