The Los Angeles have officially announced that they have acquired former All-Star closer Alexis Diaz from the Cincinnati Reds.

The sent minor league pitcher Mike Villani to Cincinnati on a contract.
To make room for Diaz on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Evan Phillips was moved to the 60-day injury list.
Diaz, 28, was close to an All-Star with the Reds in 2023. He made appearances for that season, earning a 3.07 ERA with 86 strikeouts in 67.1 innings.
However, this season has been a struggle for Diaz. He appeared only six times at the MLB level and sported a 12.00 ERA before taking the option to Triple-A. His struggle continued with Triple A as he generated a 4.61 ERA in 13.2 innings.
Diaz joins the in the hopes of regaining his old form.

As for the corresponding move, Phillips, heading for the 60-day IL, continues to add concern over the injury to his rescuer.
Phillips was on the list of injured in early May. However, Phillips continued to feel pain in his forearm and eventually received a PRP injection.
Phillips still can’t bounce back and is now out early until July.
