According to former Chelsea star and critic Joe Cole, Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez will be the “perfect” striker signing for Arsenal.
Martinez has an impressive record of 22 goals and three assists in all competitions at Inter this season, but it’s not often seen him link to the biggest club in the Premier League.
It’s probably fair to say that Argentine International is a bit underrated, and it’s hard to understand why he doesn’t often hear his name when many of England’s biggest clubs are currently looking for a striker.
Arsenal clearly needs an upgrade from Kai Herberts and Gabriel Jesus, and neither of them appears to be able to score more than 25 goals in the season.
Lautaro Martinez turned over as the perfect signature for Arsenal
Still, the former England International Cole is a huge fan of Martinez and can see the 27-year-old child ideally on the side of Mikel Arteta.
“We’ve mentioned Evanilson and (Benjamin) Sesco before, but I think the perfect striker for Arsenal is Lautaro Martinez,” Cole said on the dressing room podcast.
“Look at Rwandovsky, who is older but still slams Barcelona’s goal. Ronaldo is 40 and still scores. The striker can play a little later.”
Martinez might want to test himself in the Premier League at some point.
If Martinez is in motion, Arsenal will certainly be an attractive option for him, but I imagine that if this summer doesn’t happen, gunners will quickly sort out their positions.
Who else will Arsenal sign in to attack this summer?
As Cole said, RB Leipzig’s frontman Sesco looks like a guy to watch, but some fans also dream of inform goal machines such as Alexander Isaac and Victor Gyoker.
Either way, the new striker has to be a priority, but another winger probably makes sense to help provide ammunition to the mainman’s top.
Bukayo Saka cannot do it all by himself. It appears that the AFC needs a more consistent and reliable player on the left than Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
