The Golden State Warriors have been very quiet so far, and it’s been this offseason, and it seems that one possible blockbuster move has already been taken from the table due to a lack of interest.
After he spurred with play-in and playoffs and made it clear that he wasn’t a long-term production on the roster, the Golden State Warriors are expected to say goodbye to young forward Jonathan Kuminga.
Entering the offseason, Cuminga was expected to be well worthy of a sign-and-trade asset, but his lack of playing time clearly ruined any value he might have.
Cuminga is linked to the Sacramento Kings and the Chicago Bulls, but the King reportedly doesn’t want to fire for him, and the warriors are reportedly not interested in one of the Bulls’ best players.
On paper, Nikola Vosevic is the type of player the Warriors want to add.
He has floor space, rebounds and scores and has expired contracts, but the $21.4 million he owes next season will limit Golden State’s flexibility.
“There’s the idea that Nikola Vesevic is a potential outgoing work and is a sign-and-trade that the Warriors are interested in there,” said insider Jake Fisher. “I don’t think the Warriors are very interested in Nikola Vesevic, I’m not really.”
Vucevic has been linked with the Warriors until the trading deadline last season, averaging 18.5 points and 10.1 rebounds last year, shooting 40.2% from the Deep. On paper, the lineup of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Buddy Heald, Draymond Green and Vausevic should be able to do Excel, despite being “not so bullish,” according to Fisher.
“I’m sure the Warriors aren’t too excited about losing Kuminga on an expired contract, Nikola Vensvich,” he finished.
With Curry, Butler and Green all signing two more seasons of contracts, Golden State will certainly prefer players who can fit that timeline.
The Vucevic may not be the perfect fit, but the Warriors have yet to add one player this summer via trades and free agency.
They are linked to Al Horford, but he has not yet decided to go to warrior, Hawks or retire.
Currently, Golden State has only nine players on the roster. Their only true center is Quinten Post, not the centre of the title team.
There are still a few months left in the NBA offseason, but the Warriors don’t have the luxury of noisying if they want to add a fifth ring to their curry and green fingers.
Vucevic may not be a defensive asset, but he certainly stands in the lineup and the Bulls are one of the few teams that still interest Kuminga.
