Steve Kerr has been rooting for Will Richard during the Golden State Warriors preseason, but he may have let slip what he plans to do with Will Richard.
One of the Golden State Warriors’ biggest players to watch during the preseason is Will Richard. Richard signed a full-time deal with the Warriors this summer and his impressive play has impressed the young star.
After Richard impressed for the Warriors in Summer League, the franchise decided to give him a chance and earned him a contract with the team.
Almost immediately, L.J. Cryer and Will Richard impressed Steve Kerr in training and found their way into the Warriors’ rotation early on.
Carr quickly became a fan of Cryer and Richard. But after his recent performance with the Warriors, it appears Kerr has decided what he’s going to do with Richard.
Steve Kerr spoke after the Golden State Warriors’ preseason victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in which rookie Will Richard started and scored 13 points.
Kerr spoke after the match about Richard’s performance and what impression he made. In fact, Richard has earned the trust alongside Kerr and will likely see a lot of playing time next season.
“Will really knows how to play. He’s aggressive defensively and sees the game well. He made threes tonight. We’re really excited for him. He’s a very good player…”
“If you’re on the roster, there’s always a path. So many things can happen in 82 games.
“One thing I know is that I won’t hesitate to send him out (in the regular season). I already have that much faith in him.”
Will Richard did a great job of making an impact for the Golden State Warriors this preseason.
It’s very impressive to see a second-round rookie quickly gain the trust of his head coach and earn his way into the rotation.
As the season progresses and basketball becomes more competitive, Richard will have to show that he is up to the task of being a key contributor for the Warriors.
Although he probably won’t put up the numbers he put up in the preseason, Will Richard could be an important part of the Warriors’ team next season.
