Manchester United legend Roy Keane has explained what he has heard about Coby Mainu’s situation at Old Trafford as he continues to struggle to find playing time.
The talented young England international made a big impression when he first broke into Man United’s first team, but is now forced onto the bench for almost every game under manager Ruben Amorim.
This has led to speculation about Maynou’s future, with many Red Devils fans likely frustrated that he hasn’t been given more opportunities to show what he’s capable of.
Still, former United captain Keane doesn’t necessarily share that view…
Watch the video above to see pundits explain what they’ve heard about Mainu and why he won’t be on the team.
Is Koby Mainu good enough for Manchester United?
Even if Mainu shows a lot of potential, and even if there are other problems in United’s midfield, everyone has to earn their place.
Keane said he had heard there were concerns within the club about how much defensive ground Mainu could cover in 90 minutes.
Needless to say, even if you have all the ability in the world, you can’t get by in the modern game without hard work and true intensity.
While Maynou could very well succeed elsewhere, there appears to be good reason to think he may not have the qualities to be a mainstay in the midfield of a top Premier League club at the moment.
Keane knows a thing or two about what it takes to lead MUFC’s midfield, so Mainu might do well to listen to this and do whatever he can to improve this aspect of his game.
