The soccer summer transfer market, that’s weird. A lot continues, with rumors and shocks shaking like so many hoof clearances in Sunday’s league match.
For Liverpool fans, the windows were less curious than they were chaotic. After marching towards last year’s Premier League title, Arne Slot’s side has undergone an incredible change.
Trent Alexander Arnold set out for Real Madrid towards the end of his contract, and Liverpool signed Jeremy Frimont. However, Skozer’s true heir, Florian Wiltz, teammate of Frimon’s Bayer Leverkusen, signed a British record fee of £116 million, and was called “the world’s best midfielder” by former Welxulf striker Patrick Helms. Certainly, Wirtz is a world-class playmaker.
Both Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mamardashvili have arrived. And Hugo Ekitike came and left Eintracht Frankfurt at Anfield with an initial fee of £609 million. The 23-year-old could be one of the best strikers in the world.
However, as Darwin Nunes is Al Hilal’s priority target, sports director Richard Hughes focuses on Newcastle United’s Alexander Isaac.
Why Liverpool won’t sign Alexander Isaac
Ah, he’s a dream, it’s okay. But praise Isaac, who has left St. James’ park this summer, isn’t an easy feat, even if he is eager to round out his Newcastle career and join the Reds at Merseyside.
Can Liverpool pull that apart? Certainly, if ISAK joins the slot side this summer, they will have to pay to eat up what Leverkusen checked for Wirtz.
The Premier League champion has already seen a formal offer worth £110 million last week, but this is a negotiation tactic from Hughes and FSG, to soften the hearted players in Liverpool, and refused to travel with Toon for a preseason tour in Asia.
The 25-year-old is currently returning to the training facility in Newcastle, where he is looking to give a face-to-face lecture with Howe.
Last season, Pundit Jamie Carragher called Isak “the best striker in the Premier League,” and his 27-goal contribution in Newcastle’s title-winning campaign shows the tip of the iceberg of a wide and vast skill set.
He is a dream target, and of course. However, Liverpool could fail. Newcastle may not be able to find and sign an acceptable alternative.
Therefore, alternatives line up.
Liverpool supports moving to Anfield
According to ESPN, Real Madrid’s Rodrigo informed his aides that he would prefer to sign Liverpool this summer if he had to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.
Rodrigo is no longer considered one of Real Madrid’s unruly superstars, but the Los Blancos only earn cash if their ratings are met.
Tottenham Hotspur is also keen on the Brazilian star of Xabi Alonso, and with Heung-Min’s son set up to sign LAFC on MLS, FSG will need to make a quick decision on whether they will move forward with the bid.
Why Liverpool should sign Rodrigo
There are cases where Rodrigo could be the perfect replacement if Liverpool fails to sign Isaac this summer.
Rodrigo – Career statistics by position | |||
---|---|---|---|
position | App | the goal | assist |
Right winger | 146 | 34 | 31 |
Center Forward | 84 | twenty two | 8 |
Left winger | 78 | twenty three | 16 |

Data from the transfer market |
Called “the most talented and most talented player” on the Real Madrid team by teammate Jude Bellingham, Rodrigo is renowned for his tenacious, hardworking workplace, technical quality and ability to move between multiple positions.
There is no doubt that he can change his broad position and central position in a different way than Louis Diaz, who completed a £65.5 million transfer to Bayern Munich last week.
Diaz operated in a makeshift centre-forward berth based on previous slot guidance and earned assists from eight goals and 15 fixtures in that role.
So we see that Rodrigo, who makes a big advance in goalscoring, can emulate the Colombians.
But the same can be said about Real Madrid’s versatile forward. He was ranked among the top 2% of European top 5 league position peers, according to FBREF.
Additionally, he missed one big opportunity last season in La Liga, according to Sofa Scole. That said, he only scored six times after a disappointing year. Given that Rodrigo was routinely played on his right flank, in his unwilling position, such an issue provides some important context.
All this shows that Rodrigo is the perfect alternative to Isaac, even if it’s a bit of a left field. He can replace Diaz while also providing a different dimension to the central strike area of the slot.
Liverpool has welcomed the folding of Ekitique, of course, so there’s a new out-and-out striker to replace Nunes. The Frenchman scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in all Frankfurt competitions last season, while Pandit Owen Hargreaves said last season that he “looks like the perfect centre forward.”
With this in mind, losing ISAK is not the worst thing in the world, not when FSG succeeds in a package slot team with such a wide range of elite-level qualities.
The great Luca Modric says, after all, as Rodrigo is one of Real Madrid’s “world-class superstars.”
At this point, it seems Liverpool will continue to push for Newcastle’s star striker, but if they fail to break the UK’s transfer record twice this summer, it may be worth moving forward in a deal with Rodrigo.
