The Boston Celtics will have a very tough season from 2025 to 26. After Jason Tatum’s brutal Achilles injury, their hopes to compete for the championship next season have collapsed.
So the Celtics dismantled the 2024 NBA Championship roster. The first step was the Celtics, trading the Trail Blazers for Jrue Holiday.
The Celtics then trade Christaps Porzingis for the Atlanta Hawks. Two of their highest earners are out of the book, allowing the Celtics to enter under the second apron.
In Tatum’s absence, Jaylen Brown acquires the Celtics leadership role he has always wanted. The former Finals MVP will be their only star.
But will Jason Tatum actually come back and take over that role for the Celtics next season?
Steve Bullpett wrote a work for Heavy about Jason Tatum’s recovery. When talking to a scout who saw Tatum at Chris Paul’s Youth Summer Camp, he heard some positive updates.
Tatum did nothing athletic, but the scouts pointed out that he looked much better than most other players who tore Achilles three months later.
“I’ve seen people coming back from Achilles’ tears, but he looked ahead, and I was a bit shocked to see how well he was working.
“Of course he didn’t run or jog, but he was in great condition and didn’t do his part in camp.
“When he can come back, I don’t know what this means. I’m sure he and the medical people in the Celtics are setting up their program.
The Boston Celtics will be excited to hear that Tatum’s recovery is going very well. Achilles’ injuries are one of the hardest to recover in all sports.
Tatum has gone well from the injury, but the Celtics still need to be very careful about it. We’ve seen players struggle to get back into form after coming back from Achilles’ tears.
In Tatum’s absence, the Celtics will need Jaylen Brown to carry them and put them in the best possible position ahead of the playoffs.
If Tatum’s recovery goes well enough to be able to return to the team for the playoffs, the Celtics become a dangerous team in the playoffs.
