The current Chelsea owners don’t mind winning the Premier League, and if they get a chance they’ll win cash from star players like Cole Palmer.
That’s according to former blues defender Frank Lebouf, who claims that Todd Bouley and Behadad Egbali are only interested in making money.
Chelsea had a huge success under previous owner Roman Abramovich, but the club has been moving in quite a different direction since Boley and Egbari took over.
Currently, Chelsea is primarily focused on signing the best young players in the game, rather than the ready-made stars needed to win major trophies.
Palmer is one of the great success stories of this current ownership, but Lebouf believes England International can quit the right offer.
Former Chelsea star’s worrying Cole Palmer transfer request
“You want to know where the club is standing, but now their only goal is to make money from the players they buy,” Lebov told Metro.
“It’s true, they give young players a big long contract, but if they can make a profit, they’ll sell them. That’s the goal. Cole Palmer, bought for £40 million, can sell for 120 or 130 million people in the summer if they get the offer.
“The goal is not to be an English champion, the goal is not to be in the Champions League, but to make money from the players they buy.”
This is certainly a worrying claim, as Chelsea fans are used to winning major trophies and don’t want to be a sales club.
Teams like Brighton have been on track recently to make a big profit for talented young players, but CFCs don’t want to be such a stepping stone team, even if they’re profitable.
