Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both said to be locked in a race to sign Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo, according to Christian Falk.
In the latest edition of his exclusive CF Bayern Insider column, Falk spoke about Murillo’s situation and his asking price after his impressive performance at Forest.
The talented Brazilian will definitely get the chance to join a big club at some point and this is not the first time we have seen Chelsea linked with him.
Murillo has been talked about as a Chelsea target for some time now, including by outlets such as Football Insider, and the 23-year-old would undoubtedly fit into the Blues’ strategy of acquiring the best young players in the world.
With Chelsea and Bayern Munich linked with a move, where will Murillo be next?
Falk has considered Murillo as an option for Bayern, saying the impressive young defender would likely cost around €50 million and would also be a target for Chelsea if he were to move in the near future.
“That’s true. Bayern Munich added Murillo to their shortlist because they don’t know what their own defensive talent will do in the near future,” Falk said.
“Murillo is on this list. He is doing very well in the Premier League. Of course, Forest gave him a new contract in January, also because Real Madrid were paying attention to him.”
“You can imagine Bayern bringing a 23-year-old centre-back into the team.
“However, his transfer fee will not be easy for FC Bayern. They will have to pay more than 50 million euros (about 4.35 billion yen), but one advantage is that his salary is not particularly high at the moment, so he will fit well into the Bayern team.”
“But it’s not just Bayern. I heard that Chelsea are also interested. Still, he could be a good option for Bayern Munich.”
Murillo looks like a must-have signing for Chelsea
Chelsea are in need of new additions to their defense and should definitely be at the front of the queue to sign Murillo.
The west London giants have somewhat neglected that area of their squad this summer, instead focusing on signing a number of new attacking players such as Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, Estebao Willian and Facundo Buonanotte.
On the other hand, Enzo Maresca still needs to line up alongside the likes of Trevo Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo, so CFC would do well to bring in an upgrade.
Murillo looks like the ideal player, so Chelsea would do well to ensure they avoid competition for his signature.
