Patrick Dumont wanted to address Nico Harrison to the press. That’s why the controversial closed door press conference took place.
The Dallas Mavericks have made themselves an enemy of the entire fanbase. Supporters feel that Luka Donsic’s trade is still being betrayed on a massive basis.
Former NBA star Austin Rivers believes GM Nico Harrison deserves to be fired for the move. That’s the sentiment that many Mavericks fans share.
Harrison held a closed door press conference without cameras or microphones. Many people criticized it as a coronavirus movement.
He had said nothing new about his decision to trade Luka Donsic, but Harrison caused controversy by disregarding Dirk Nowicki and Mark Cuba.

It appears that Nico Harrison had not called this meeting of his own will. According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Mavericks Governor Patrick Dumont called for a meeting.
This is the only logical explanation in McMahon’s mind as to why this aggravated press conference took place. In fact, before Luka Donsic returned to Dallas, Dumont might have hoped that the meeting would take place.
“Most importantly, according to Rick Welts, who renewed season tickets, it’s an infuriated fanbase, 75-80%. Buildings are not entirely 75-80%, with rare exceptions.
“One of them was when Luka Donsic was just back and cried before the match and then put 45 points on his head.
“It was a game that was a bookend, and the beginning and ending ended with a standing ovation to Luka Donsic, which went straight to Nico Chanz of Fire.”
“What was said today is not going to calm down a completely enraged fanbase. Why did this happen now? Because Patrick Dumont wanted it to happen.

Brian Windhorst also spoke about the meeting on ESPN. Above all, Windhorst questioned the timing of the meeting, especially considering the messages from Mavericks remained the same.
“I don’t really know why they held this press conference because there was no change in messaging. This is when Nico Harrison signed a contract with Anthony Davis for the next few days after the transaction to improve his defense and scale.”
Nico Harrison is leading the Mavericks company line, so his answers remained the same. However, Windhorst has given him a big point about the need for a press conference, given that the season is not over yet.
Like many of their decisions over the past few weeks, this is another Mavericks phone that will confuse fans. And we are unlikely to get any of these calls anytime soon.
