Aston Villa began the season in a disastrous way after not scoring one goal in the first four Premier League games of the season.
Unai Emery’s side is completely looking out of the idea and lacks inspiration. This is a huge surprise considering how he has performed in the past few seasons under a Spanish manager.
So far this season, there hasn’t been one goal that I’ve been sitting in the relegation zone. He was knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Brentford on Tuesday, making the issue even worse.
Their star players, Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans, have all been unable to make an impact this season, but it is certain players that football critic Tim Sherwood feels should not get much of a chance to play with a team.
Tim Sherwood criticizes Emi Buendia
Former villa manager Sherwood pointed out Emi Buendia as a player who should not start a club while other options like Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho were present at the club.
“If you look at the team, I think there are people out there.” He told Sky Sports, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
“Ollie Watkins, he is a proven goalscorer for the Premier League Morgan Rodgers, lightning the league last season and season.
“(Your) midfield Tilléman, usually a good passerby, progressive (play) advancement, trying to find people early. He was there today.
“For me, Buendia is not the standard for Sancho or Harvey Elliott sitting on the bench.
“So, I see, he had better players on the bench than he did on the pitch, and now they’ve finally come, but it’s really hard to get into the rhythm of the game.”
Aston Villa is struggling to find a solution
Emery must quickly find a solution before it’s too late to qualify for Europe. Villa has only two points from their first four games in the league this season.
And now they’ve been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, so they have a great opportunity to add silverware.
Sancho and Elliott may need time to gel with their team and be comfortable, but they can only do that if they are given maximum play time.
Buedia linked to the move from the club in the summer transfer window, but despite Leeds United’s interest in signing him, the move didn’t come true.
