Naz Reid co-played for LSU and did not draft LSU after the 2019 season. He signed with Minnesota and was with them for the past six years. Reid played in 407 games for the Timberwolves and got off to a 74 start. In 2023-24, Reid played 81 of Minnesota’s 82 games, making 14 starts. He was named the NBA’s sixth man of the year and was a key contributor from the Timberwolves’ bench.
NBA insider Jake Fisher reported that Naz Reid is expected to reject the $15 million player option for the 2025-26 season. Last season, the 25-year-old averaged 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Plus, his 27.5 minutes per game was the new personal best. Over his career, Naz Reid has made sacrifices to improve his team. Reid sees himself as an NBA starter, but was willing to take on a small role for the team to win.
The 25-year-old has made $33 million in six seasons in the NBA. Minnesota wants to keep the lead this offseason. However, there are other major players that we want to keep. Julius Randle is another Timberwolf with player options this offseason. Plus, Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a free agent this offseason. Will Naz Reid be able to kick out this offseason and play for a new team in 2025-26?
