Timmy Quamba locked up several times in Roberto Romero’s fight at UFC Kansas City, but his epic flying knees gave him a second round finish highlighted on Saturday.
Following the opening round before and after, Quamba took over for the second time after clipping Romero with a jab at the timing he was rattling. A head kick followed, but somehow Romero absorbed the damage and continued to move forward, but after he missed the nasty flying knee that Quamba quickly dropped onto the canvas, he wasn’t too lucky.
Quamba continued to pursue him and imposed punishments following the ground, but the judge had already seen enough and stopped the fight with a close at 3:55 in the second round.
“It was thanks to my team,” Quamba said of his performance. “When I entered the second round, I told myself it was great.
It was a strong show for Quamba. Quamba didn’t get the results he wanted in the first two appearances in the UFC after dropping a pair of decisions.
This time, Quamba showed a balanced skill set, but after catching him cleanly on a few nasty strikes in the second round, Romero hurts and smells blood in the water, and more than anything, he shows off his killer instincts.
The flying knee becomes Quamba’s highlight reel after he wins the first victory of his young UFC career.
