Manchester United forward Joshua Girky could not resist the excavation of fans at the club who left early during last night’s surprising comeback victory over Lyon.
Zirkzee wasn’t playing in the game due to injury, but it was clearly present in Old Trafford as he posted about the match on social media.
It turned out to be a night to remember for Man Utd, who ultimately won 7-6 in a total, but it’s not so surprising that some of the home crowd gave up a bit earlier.
United went down 4-2 in the night, only minutes to go to the end of the extra time, before an astonishing turnaround in a dying moment.
Zirkzee clearly felt it was wrong for United fans who left early to do so, and apparently wanted to rub it on their face with something that could be a sensible social media post…
Zirkzee didn’t have the best first season in English football, so he probably isn’t the player to choose to fight against fans like this.
It would be interesting to see how this is down, but MUFC fans definitely couldn’t blame them for thinking that this game was over.
Ruben Amorim’s comments on United fans left early
Reuben Amorim also spoke about the decision to leave the game early, but he told them he was in a bad mood, probably because they were aiming to beat the traffic.
“For those who had to leave 4-2 for traffic, they break,” the Portuguese tactician said as BBC Sports quoted.
“We know we don’t deserve every critic and deserve every critic, but we have time to make something special for this season.”
United will face Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
