Chelsea reportedly have discussions set for today about a deal that will bring both Carney Chukhuemeka and Aaron Anselmino to Borussia Dortmund.
Bruce will discuss with Dortmund today and try to close both deals. The Chukhuemeka is set to participate in Dortmund forever, but Anselmino is loaned there.
Fabrizio Romano has posted details of the transaction on X. Chukwuemeka is expected to move with a variety of add-ons and sell-on clauses, along with a fee of 20 million euros.
This follows the young British midfielder who spent time on loan with the Bundesliga Giants last season.
Meanwhile, Anselmino is a straight loan move with no buy options, according to Romano…
Although Chukwuemeka is clearly not their plan, Anselmino must benefit from first-team football experience at top European clubs before establishing himself as a regular on the side of Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea is doing business with Dortmund again
This is not the first time Chelsea and Dortmund have been in business recently. Jamie Gittens moved from BVB to CFC earlier this summer.
Ian Matzen also spent time lending from Chelsea in Dortmund a few years ago, so the club appears to have a pretty good relationship.
Back further, Chelsea also signed Dortmund’s Christian Purisic.
Chelsea trim the size of their squad
After a lot of recent spending, it is important that Chelsea offload some names by the end of the summer.
The West London Giants have made many changes to their team this year as well. Also, there are quite a few unnecessary players left from the previous transfer window.
Chukwuemeka’s departure makes sense, and I imagine it will follow a few others, including Christopher Nukank, Nicholas Jackson, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell.
Chelsea also offloaded unnecessary players such as Joan Felix, Noni Madueke, Keenan Deuceberry Hall and Kepa Alizabaraga in this transfer window.
