Tom Aspinall has not been an indisputable heavyweight champion for a long time, but his father is already wondering if there is a big opportunity.

Next up after Aspinall is the title defense against Ciryl Gane, which will be held at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on October 25th. The British star finally begins the next chapter of his career.

If Aspinall defeats Gane, his father Andy Aspinall hopes he will be booked again soon. If an advantageous opportunity other than MMA is opened up, it is another option they will consider.

“He’s going to fight now and hopefully he’ll fight in January, and if he wants to do it again, he’ll want to see the card headline in England,” Andy said on Tom’s YouTube channel. “And just look at what he wants to do from that. If he’s not bothering money, he wants to have a very high-paying boxing match for the money. The money is there. I don’t know why Tom shouldn’t have that money when he gets 100 times more, and more than 100 times more. A very good thing is to be paid.

“Tom’s money, some people say it’s better compared to the (soccer) players that are American footballers that we talked about when we were in America. He’s getting a small portion of what they’re making.

Aspinel, 32, lost only once in nine UFC appearances, and his retreat occurred in 15 seconds in a fight with Curtis Braides when Aspinel suffered an abnormal knee injury. The two met in a rematch at UFC 304, and Aspinall knocked out Blaydes in 60 seconds, winning handheld.

Tom has held the heavyweight crown share since November 2023, and is now officially uncontroversial and hasn’t changed much according to Andy.

“That’s his job,” Andy said. “If I was working, I wanted to be the best at work and he trains so hard, he’s doing very good things and he deserves it. He deserves it. He feels it. He feels it. When do you know when you made it?”

Given your average heavyweight life, it appears that Aspinall has more competition than he, whether in the field of MMA, boxing or other combat sports. He has been hugely successful so far, and Andy hopes that when time is right, his son will know when he should leave the fight.

“When he retired,” Andy said. “When he gets out of health, that’s all I care about. He’s making some money right now. If he wants to do something else, he can get out of it now. He still wants to prove a little more.

“If he stuffs it tomorrow, it won’t bother me. It’s all we do together. This. Find out what we do together. He has three kids.
