Tommy Bridewell feels that Honda is “still “too far” from the pace of rival makers in the 2025 BSB season.
Knockhill BSB has seen the theme continue this year. Raceway Yamaha rider Bradley Ray won two of the three races, and the only rider who could ride a Ducati (Rolly Skinner, in the case of Race 3 on Sunday) managed to beat him.
The Knockhill podium at Bridewell at Wet Race 2 on Sunday was his third in two rounds after he was on the podium in both Race 1 and Race 2 at Snettan two weeks ago.
However, the 2024 runner-up and the 2023 BSB champions feel that Honda has too much deficits from Yamaha and Ducati in terms of pace.
“It was great to see the team score another podium in the sprint race,” Bridewell said.
“It was a tough job and I was certainly pleased with the way I was riding.
“That being said, we are still far from the pace of our competitors, Yamaha and Ducati, and we feel completely positive.
Irwin: “The weekend I had to have.”
For Bridewell’s Honda Racing UK teammate Andrew Irwin, the weekend at Knockhill offered aggressiveness with two top-10 finishes after describing it as a “difficult” Snetterton round.
“It was a weekend when I felt I needed to have,” he said.
“I’m not really here to race at the bottom of the top 10, but for me, coming back from a difficult weekend like Snetterton, it’s a good step and much better.
“We need to continue working in a calm and polite way, continue to advance and continue our work with Brand Hatch.
“This was a good step out of Snetterton, but we still need to do the same thing.
“I know how to get to the podium and win a race at BSB. I have to be patient and work with the team to get myself back and try harder on the field.”
