The Los Angeles provided an unfortunate update on Tommy Edman’s ankle injuries.
According to the president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, the utility star and the dominant NLCS MVP exacerbated ankle injuries last week while playing against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“He got worse like playing in the outfield last week in Arizona,” Friedman said. “He’ll do anything, but I think the best chance he can get strong right now is to limit the amount of movement he makes in the outfield. And for the time being, at least for now, that’s our idea, and we’ll spend a few days and gradually get better and open it up.
Edman is still going to be available for the Wild Card Series, but for some time he has dealt with persistent ankle injuries and appears to be playing for 2 bases in the near future.
He was first placed on the ankle inflammatory injury list at the beginning of May, locking him out for about three weeks, including the time he had before landing at IL. He then sprained his ankle at the beginning of August, which kept him on the sidelines for just over a month.
With 67 games he’s played since his activation in May, Edman has reached just .213 with a .579 OPS. Edman’s 30 games played before his first ankle complication, which saw him hit .252 on 8 of his 24 RBIs this season and 13 home runs.
But Edman has the trick to lift things up in October.
