The Golden State Warriors were able to find themselves in a difficult position as one of the stars next season.
The Golden State Warriors were surprisingly quiet this offseason. Despite some obvious issues with their roster, the warriors have done nothing to address these issues.
They have not signed or made a single transaction so far. The reason behind it is very simple. For the past few years, it’s a man who’s been wearing #00.
The Warriors have suspended Jonathan Cuminga’s offseason. Young Forward is a restricted free agent and has not yet re-signed with his team.
This week, the Warriors offered Kuminga a two-year, $45 million contract. Naturally, he refused the offer. This is because Cuminga wants to make more than $30 million per season.
Kuminga and his agents stand up to the warriors. But even if the Warriors could bring him back next season, they could face trouble with him.
Zach Lowe spoke on the podcast about the Golden State Warriors’ current plight with Jonathan Kuminga.
He believes Kuminga’s relationship with the Warriors is extremely toxic and there’s not much to do to get out of this issue other than trading him.
“If there’s hope that the Warriors will rescue the breadcrumbs, not just the end of the curry era, but the two timeline plans, that’s probably in the pop of Cuminga and that’s probably not.
“Even if that bridge isn’t completely burned out, (or) Kuminga will turn into a trade asset that truly boosts the team’s present and future.
“The king is involved. The sun is involved. Warriors don’t like those assets. Warriors should not really love those assets.
“They haven’t changed the lives of warriors, whatever they are, and the sad part may already be too far away.
Lowe added that Jonathan Cuminga remains with the Warriors.
“Kuminga doesn’t play a sufficiently good role for the warriors. His trade value isn’t as high as the Warriors need to get what they need for him.
“And I still think the qualifying offer is a nightmare option for both of them, which could be a more nightmare option for warriors than Cuminga.
“They can’t afford him for a year, like $7 million, because they just let him walk.”
The Warriors created this situation for themselves. And the fact that they play hardball in situations like this only makes things that difficult for them.
Hopefully, both parties can resolve the issue quickly. The longer this story is dragged over, the worse side is visible.
