Tottenham Hotspur plans an assault on the wolf for midfield star Joa Gomez.
After the disappointing 2024/25 campaign, Tottenham hopes to be able to sign a few top players in the summer. Ange Postecoglou aims to bolster the midfield and can prioritize signing world-class players to get more control over the tempo of the game.
According to a report from Givemesport, Spurs has had a long-standing interest in Joao Gomes. They have been scouting the wolf sense for almost a year and are considering moving this summer. Liverpool is also enthusiastic about players. He has also linked to Manchester United in the past.
Gomez has been turning his strength from strength ever since joining Flamengo’s Premier League outfit in the beginning of 2023. Not only has he established himself as a key figure on the team, he is one of the names on their team sheets. The 24-year-old has participated in 31 games this season and contributed six goals. Popular critic Mika Richards claims Gomez is a talented player “go to the top.”
He prefers to play as a central midfielder, but he did an equally effective job in defensive roles as well as offensive roles. His consistent performance has not been noticed.
The North London Club Recruitment Chief has been keeping an eye on him for the past 12 months. Gomez already has more experience playing at the highest level in the UK, so the Spurs feel they can slot directly into the team.
They are thinking about whether they will move for him when the windows open again. Not only does Postecoglou want more quality in the middle, it may need to replace Yves Bizma, who is expected to leave this summer.
Joao Gomes is an expensive addition
However, it’s not easy to sign the 24-year-old, as the wolf is desperate to keep him in the club. He will only let him go if the minimum £50 million ask price is met. But if Mateus Cunha departs in the summer, they could hinder Gomez’s movements.
The Wolves certainly have a bargaining advantage as Brazil International’s £30,000 per week contract runs through the summer of 2028.
