Tottenham are reportedly eyeing promising FC Porto striker Sam Agehowa as manager Thomas Frank looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the January transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, the north London club have put the 21-year-old Nigerian forward high on their shortlist after key forwards Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani left the team’s attacking line-up due to injuries.
Agejova has scored five goals in eight appearances for Porto this season.
Sam Agehowa is wanted by Tottenham
Agehowa’s explosive form in Portugal this season has attracted attention, with Spurs expected to compete with several European clubs for his signature.
Tottenham’s attacking depth has been severely tested this season, with both Solanke and Kolo Muani sidelined for significant periods.
Their absence forces Frank to reconsider his forward options, resulting in fewer goals at key moments.
Agehowa’s share price has risen dramatically over the past 12 months. The format attracted a lot of attention in the summer, with both Chelsea and Newcastle United reportedly exploring potential deals before ultimately shifting their focus elsewhere.
Spurs need offensive depth for second half of season
Porto, known for developing world-class attacking talent, are aware of the growing interest and could demand a hefty transfer fee if Spurs go ahead with a formal offer.
The Portuguese giants are under no pressure to sell as he has a long-term contract in place and his value is rapidly increasing, but a major bid from the Premier League could test their resolve.
Spurs will face stiff competition for his signature from domestic and European rivals. If they can win the race, Agekhova could become a key figure in the club’s push for Champions League football and silverware.
