Tottenham, alongside Chelsea, is reportedly interested in the ambitious and potential relocation move of Aston Villa, which will attack midfielder Morgan Rodgers.
The talented 23-year-old really caught his eye in the Premier League last season, providing eight goals and 10 assists in 37 league games.
Rogers also showed what he can do in the Villa and the Champions League. It’s clear that he’s a guy with little trouble stepping up to a bigger club.
According to Give Me Sport, both Spurs and Chelsea are keen on Rogers and could cost as much as £100 million.
England International was previously linked as the best target by Chelsea’s Sun, but now it could face competition from Tottenham.
Morgan Rodgers’ transfer has become even more important to Tottenham
The Spurs really need a midfield signature on attack after an injury blow in relation to James Madison.
As confirmed on Tottenham’s official website, Madison appears to have been facing several months with an ACL injury.
Rodgers could definitely be an upgrade for Madison anyway, but THFC is now desperately needing more coverage in that area of their team.
At the same time, it will probably be difficult to see where North Londoners are, near £100 million for a single player.
What’s next for Rogers among the Spurs and Chelsea rinks?
Chelsea will not sign Rogers either, as they are working on both Zabi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho deals.
It’s unclear how they’ll fit Rogers as they’ve already signed Jamie Gitens and Estevao Willian this summer as midfield signatures for the new attack.
If they decide to strengthen their interest in former Middlesbrough youth, that might be good news for Tottenham.
Rodgers is certainly seduced by the opportunity to move to London, but both clubs are able to offer him the Champions League football of the season.
