Tottenham Hotspur is interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher during the summer transfer.
According to football insider Pete O’Rourke, they’re watching the 25-year-old midfielder this summer. It will be interesting to see if they move forward with an offer to sign him.
Conor Gallagher’s passionate Spurs
They have tried to sign a former Chelsea midfielder in the past. He is a long-term target for them and they will do well to secure his signature.
Gallagher has proven his quality in the UK and has done pretty well in Spain. He was able to prove that he was a great acquisition. Tottenham needs more work rates, defensive cover and physicality in the middle of the park. At 25, he’s perfect for them. He was able to form solid partnerships with the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Joao Palhinha.
It will be interesting to see if the midfielder is willing to return to England this summer.
Gallagher replacing Yves Bissouma?
Meanwhile, the report also claims that Yves Bissouma could be on his way out of Tottenham. Gallagher appears to be an alternative to Africa. Bissouma had a dominant season last time, but replacing him may not be a bad idea.
“I’m not surprised to see Tottenham trying to bolster that midfield (Gallager),” O’Rourke told Football Insider.
“It seems likely that Yves Bissouma can be advanced and Tottenham’s midfield is getting a little lighter now.
“So they might be looking for options to enhance it, and Connor Gallagher will check out a bunch of boxes.”
Tottenham will need to plug in their team’s weaknesses this summer, and signing a quality central midfielder is one of their priorities. They should also consider investing in trustworthy centres.
