Trevor Peek will not fight immediately for an unfortunate accident.
What sounded like Peek’s routine training sessions ended with a disaster when a fighter suffered an unusual leg injury while exercising at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. Peek was scheduled to face Jeong Yeong Lee in a featherweight match at UFC Des Moines on May 3, but that match is now off.
Peek revealed his injury in an Instagram post.
“I actually smashed my foot at the Performance Institute on Friday,” Peak said in the video. “That’s not a bad fracture. You need to have a CT scan the next day or two to know if there is any ligament damage or anything like that.
“I want to talk coolly about how I did it, but I was jumping on a soft mat, alternating each leg, jumping in just 20 minutes, a little tired, a little careless and not paying attention.
Peek was booked to make her first appearance in 2025 following the 2024 campaign. He has had consecutive losses to Janaru Ashmoose and Charlie Campbell, dropping the UFC record 1-3.
If the injury did not occur on the company’s property, Peak believes he could have hidden it and still fought the night.
“Unfortunately, I was on the UFC property whenever I did it, so they knew about it,” Peak said. “If there was a way to tape this up and make no one knows, I would certainly have tried my best to make May 3rd come true. I’ve always rolled over with punches, and I’ve certainly got pretty bad injuries and sometimes the best. This next fight is really important to my career.
Peek added that he spoke to Sean Shelby, a UFC matchmaker. They want to find a place for him at the Nashville event on July 12th.
