Manchester United were able to invite yet another Bayern Munich star into their ranks this summer.
The Red Devils ran a truly disappointing 2024/25 campaign on all of their accounts. Reuben Amorim’s men fell to the 15th place finish in the Premier League, killing the worst points in total in the competition.
season | Total points |
2024/25 | 42 |
2021/22 | 58 |
Now it appears United are considering strengthening their backline this summer, in an effort to improve their fate in time for the next season.
Reportedly Man Utd and Liverpool are Kim Min-Jae
If the report is believed, both Manchester United and Arne Slot Liverpool have turned their eyes to Kim Min Jae.
It’s great news for FC Bayern and the Premier League, as the Bayern Giants can already imagine life without a Korean centre-back.
The former Napolitan man has struggled to assert himself in Munich since his move of 50 million euros (£43 million) in 2023. Jonathan Ta arrived from Bayer Leberkusen this summer.
However, at the time of writing, Christian Faulk reports that Bayern Munich has not yet received an offer for the Minge family.
“There has been no decision yet on Kim Min Jae’s future. There has been no negotiations with the players.” The head of the Build sports informed exclusively of catch-offsides.
“But I’m interested in Saudi Arabia. Kim hasn’t ruled out that. But I’m waiting to see if Liverpool and Manchester United will be specific. There are also rumours that the two Premier League clubs are interested.
“The facts are: FC Bayern can imagine selling, but there are no offers to defenders yet.”
Will Bayern sell to the Premier League?
Eventually, it will come down to someone ready to cough cash. If the Saudi Arabian professional league intends to escalate that interest, then Premier League clubs could be at a disadvantage in wages.
More importantly, it remains to be seen whether Manchester United are keen to expand the Bayern Expet’s existing roster.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have barely set up tongue shaking at Old Trafford in 2024/25. The pair received ratings of 6.91/10 and 6.97/10 (courtesy of the sofa score) for their contributions in the Premier League this season, respectively.
Kim Min Jae has relatively impressive numbers when it comes to using the ball. However, this is what is expected on the side of Bayern, which tends to dominate the Bundesliga games.

Manchester United need a goal
As bad as United’s watching the final semester, there is a much more need for offensive reinforcement.
Granting 54 goals in the Premier League doesn’t bring Amorim’s outfit closer to the title, but it’s possible to challenge European spots.
Clearly, Jason Wilcox would agree, considering the club has already secured a signature from the wolves. Brentford’s Brian Mbeumo is also deeply connected to the movement.
So it remains to be seen whether Manchester United will take advantage of the opportunity to sign Kim Min Jae.
Liverpool does not need the Kim Min-jae family
This comes with this. Liverpool’s Start XI does not have a centre-back location if both Virgil Vandic and Ibrahi Maconate fit.
That’s not to say the Reds couldn’t do with the backup options coming this summer.
The issue of Joe Gomez’s injuries means that the British can’t rely on availability throughout the league season.
After a difficult 2024/25 campaign, Jarell Quansah appears to benefit from normal first-team football.
But nevertheless, we can’t see a world where Kim Min Jae is ready to accept the bitpart role behind the starting centre-back duo.
