The Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery just weeks after trading Luka Donsic for the Los Angeles Lakers.
General Manager Nico Harrison has probably received more criticism than front office members for his decision to send Donsic to LA.
With an exception, he now has a real argument that the perceived ridiculous trade is already going well, as Mavericks can draft Cooper Flag in June.
However, there is no guarantee that Harrison is doing anything obvious, and many people expect the Mavericks to give the flag with a win-loss move.
NBA Analysis It came up with a smash hit four team deal, including a consensus-top prospect and two other superstar players.
- Dallas Mavericks receive: Devin Booker, Trey Murphy IIIJack Landalle, Jose Alvarado, Ryan Dunn, 2027 Dog 1st
- Phoenix Suns receive: Jalen GreenDillon Brooks, Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington, Naji Marshall, Max Christie, 2025 Mavs 1st (Cooper Flag)
- Houston Rockets receive: Kevin Durant, Herbert JonesNick Richards
- New Orleans Pelican Received: Klay Thompson, Caleb Martin, Jaden Hardy, Tali EasonDwight Powell, 2025 Dog 1st (via Houston), 2025 Nuggets (via Phoenix)
There’s no guarantee in the NBA Draft, but Cooper Flag is in the future superstar Victor Wenbañara category.
For Dallas Maverick to exchange him, they will have to receive the haul, and Devin Booker, Trey Murphy III, Ryan Dunn and the first round picks certainly meet the criteria.
The Suns will take part in restructuring the deal and will move from Booker and Kevin Durant in return for Flag, Jalen Green and some tradable assets.
The Houston Rockets, like the Mavericks, appear to be determined to win as quickly as possible, and Kevin Durant, a 25-point scorer per game, was able to put them on the top.
The New Orleans Pelican is the most important team of the four. They receive Tari Eason and 10th pick in this year’s draft of Trey Murphy III and Herbert Jones and do it again.

Mavericks offers two reasonable options: Draft Flag to rebuild your team, or trade Flags to build your championship competitors.
Most people would agree that the former makes more sense, but Harrison seems likely to choose the latter.
The aforementioned contract gives them five times (on returning from injury), Devin Booker, Tray Murphy III, Anthony Davis and Derek Lively II.
Point Guard | Shooting Guard | A small front | Power Forward | center | |
starter | Kyrie Irving | Devin Booker | Trey Murphy III | Anthony Davis | Dereck Lively II |
bench | Jose Alvarado | Brandon Williams | Ryan Dunn | Olivier Maxence-Prosper | Jock Randall |
There cannot be denied that Jason Kidd is expected to lead the team deeper into the playoffs anytime soon.
The only concern is the bench, but Kid should be able to keep at least one of Irving, Booker and Davis on the floor to provide a scoring punch.
